Welcome to Treadlestitches! Thanks for stopping by!
This is the third bow tie quilt in my quest to use up blocks from this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I wanted a different set for this one. Isn't it dramatic?I only had 4 orange blocks left, so that worked out for the center. The blocks are 8 in. finished, and this quilt took 48 blocks set 6 x 8, with a 4 in. finished border. It's a sort of lap size/small twin, 56 in. x 72 in.
So the bow tie quilt count is up to 3. Still more coming! (But the end is in sight.)
So what's the problem? How best to use them to make quilts for little girls. This is a great problem to have.
For now, here's a photo from last summer of my daughter and all three of her sons.
So far I have made a chart and a graph and planned one quilt. Seems like a good start, but it uses less than half of the squares. Time to drag out my charm square books.
That's what I'm working on. How about you?
If you've been reading this blog for a while, you may have noticed I'm not posting as many pictures of my youngest grandsons Buddy and Little Guy. That's because their mom is between jobs, so I'm currently not babysitting them. I miss seeing them every day! We do still get together but I often forget to take pictures (Ack! sound of hand hitting forehead). I'm sure I'll be babysitting again sometime soon.
Have a wonderful week, everyone! Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Americans!
Cheers for reading,

Your newest bowtie quilt is a beauty, Sylvia! I love that setting. I'll enjoy seeing what you do with all the princess squares. How about a disappearing nine patch? There might even be directions for getting that look without doing the sewing-cutting-resewing steps. Hello to your buddies!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diann! And thanks for the idea! I think there will be at least 2 quilts, maybe even 3! I need lots of ideas!
DeleteGenius setting for the bowties! It looks great. You might consider a wonky Happy Block where the center charm square is off-set & then framed. Those come out cute & are easy to piece then trim to size. Then your princesses could "dance" around the quilt. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue! I'm really loving the suggestions for what to do with this giant stack of squares!
DeleteBow tie blocks make great scrappy useful quilts.love the Bull’s Eye or Trip Around the world setting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, grammajudyb!
DeleteYour bow tie quilt top is awesome! Very inspiring! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat! I was lucky to have enough of the right colors left!
DeleteLove that bow tie setting--very neat work on this!! Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julierose! I wanted a different setting for each of the bowtie quilts.
DeleteThat bow tie finish is Fabulous!! It looks like it was planned from the start and not the third! The orange center is genius! I hear you about the grandchildren. I hope Mom finds the right job soon. I miss hearing about those guys!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThanks, TerryK! I almost never plan rsc quilts ahead. I just make the blocks and figure it out later. Maybe I'll get organized next year? Lol
