Welcome to Treadlestitches! Thanks for stopping by!
I am sometimes asked how these are made. I don't feel comfortable giving directions since the pattern came from a book, but I can tell you this: the blocks are easy to make, the pieces consist of one square and 4 large triangles, and there is no cutting done after sewing, except to sliver trim to 10 in. The sewing starts with a partial seam. For more information, see this book: Dessert Roll Quilts, by Pam and Nicky Lintott.
My left leaning favorite is this dinosaur block. If you read this blog regularly you may be getting tired of seeing this print! I still love it, which is good because I still have a LOT of it.
I like this one best, mostly because of the cats. Does this ever happen to you? I have no idea where this scrap came from. Maybe it was in a bag I bought at a sale or one that someone gave me. I also don't know why a giant cat would be standing next to the Eiffel Tower wearing a hat and glasses and a pensive expression. Weird fabric just calls my name.

The last red RSC set is the Thrifty blocks. I'm using up lots of 2 in. squares in these. Maybe I'll be able to get the lid on the box by the end of the year!
So that's it for this week's sewing. Next week it's on to green, which is a great color for this time of year.
We're back to rain and gloom today, but that's normal for April, and it's making the grass green and the trees blossom, so I won't complain. Maybe I'll get some quilting done!
I hope your week ahead is filled with sunshine, and time to do the things you love.
Cheers for reading this,

Fun times with the grandkids! You have some awesome red scrappy blocks going on there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara! I'm so lucky to live near all my kids and grandkids.
DeleteIt's been rainy and gloomy here in Colorado, too, but we definitely can't complain about getting some moisture! Your blocks are always fun to see, in every color. I love the close-ups of your fun dinosaurs and quirky cats! Glad you enjoyed some great family time this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diann! I guess rain is just one of the joys of spring. And fun fabrics are a joy anytime!
DeleteI love that choosing wacky fabric is your superpower! You go, girl! Such cute blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue! I'm laughing at having a wacky fabric superpower! Need a weird print? I will be there in a flash!
DeleteI love wacky fabric too. Super cat with the Eiffel tower, haha. Mon ami, mais oui. Pourquoi pas? (My friend, but of course. Why not?) What will you do with all the critters fabric once they are all grown up? I have one that always goes barefoot too. He takes after his mother, haha. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteSuper cat, tres magnifique! I love it!
DeleteThose are super great blocks - and look fun to make. I am with Buddy - no reason to wear shoes in the house...except when there are Loose Legos - haha!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alycia! And definitely watch out for those Legos!
