I had planned to share the pattern for this quilt, but have been requested to take it down by another blogger who shared a similar quilt. Her quilt is not exactly the same, and is not an I Spy quilt, but in the interest of peace on the internet I am complying.
I honestly did not copy her quilt, and I even had a hard time finding it after I knew it was out there. As a retired librarian I am very conscious of copyright law. It is never my intention pass off others' work as my own.
I'm still happy about this quilt, and it will go to a child who needs it after it is quilted.
Here's where I am today:
Everything is quilted except the outer border. I'm feeling kind of lazy about this. I know I just need to suck it up and get this done.
I'm auditioning these stencils for the border. Once I decide, it will be time for the dreaded marking. I actually like the quilting part. If I can see the darn marks!
Here's my little buddy, in his orange shirt, watering the flowers (some orange) with his orange watering can. He is just the best helper ever.
Have a wonderful week, and don't forget to have a little fun.
Cheers,
Sylvia@Treadlestitches

What a wonderful I Spy quilt!! Sorry about the trouble with your pattern instructions. That is unfortunate. LOVE all the ORANGE for the RSC in the photo of your little gardening buddy. Too cute!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyful! Now I need to make some orange quilt blocks!
DeleteLove the I Spy quilt. No one has a corner on ideas with squares! This is just what I need to do with some of my neat prints. A lucky child will cherish yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks, patricia! I had lots of fun making it.
DeleteWhat a darling I-spy! So bright and happy. Staying out of an argument about the pattern on the internet is a road to happiness, too. I appreciate that you took the high road, even if it wasn't strictly necessary :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Louise! I loved the tour of your studio on your latest blog post (http://myquiltodyssey.blogspot.com/2018/08/a-finish-and-tour.html). The finished quilt was bright and fun and wonderful.
DeleteCheers,
Sylvia
A very cute quilt. I think if we see quilts and manage to make them ourselves, working out the measurements, it can be both rewarding and usually not too difficult. I agree, its not worth stressing over.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn! I actually worked this one out on graph paper. The squares in the center have a matching square in the outer border. It could be a fun game for a toddler and a parent or sibling.
DeleteThanks for sharing your I-Spy quilt version! Any competent quilter could reproduce it with a little graph paper and some time. Good luck on the border quilting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, grammajudyb! And I got the Ohio Star border quilting and even the binding done yesterday!
DeleteCute quilt, and I like that you have a matching square in the border. IMHO don't be afraid to post your version of instructions. Good grief - there's only so many ways to say "cut this many 5 inch squares and arrange them like this". Did the thousands of quilters who've made quilts of 5" squares before her get the same consideration from here that she's demanding? Not arguing, just pondering... :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, JustGail! When you get right down to it, most quilters probably don't need me to give detailed directions for something so simple anyway. I'm just trying to reduce the stress in my life. It's working! Calm and happy, and sipping iced tea!
